GZYZ presents:
Inside The 4th Edition:
(notice that red prints are those removed from the original claim.)
The 4th Edition rules emphasize faster game play, offer exciting new character
options, and reduce the amount of "prep time" needed to run the game, which means that our game will be more like World of Warcraft and its copycats and more munchkin-friendly. D&D Insider includes a character creator that lets players design and equip their
D&D characters, dungeon- and adventure-building tools for Dungeon Masters,
online magazine content, and a digital game table that lets you play 24/7 on the
internet, making the 4th version either a stripped down version of MMORPG or Neverwinter Nights with GUIs programmed with AJAX — the perfect option for anyone who can't find time to get together, that is, otakus.
"We've been gathering player feedback for eight years, but we still ruthlessly ignored complaints like 'don't delete the modrons!', 'quit forcing players to buy these costy minitures!'" said Bill Slavicsek, R&D Director of Roleplaying and Miniatures Games at Wizards of the Coast. "Fourth Edition streamlines parts of the D&D game that are too complex , that is, role-playing, while enhancing the overall play experience, that is, looting monsters and backstabbing your buddies afterward. At its heart, it's still a tabletop game experience as something as graphically chanllenged and poorly rendered like this one cannot be called an MMO . However, D&D Insider makes it easier for players to create characters, run their games, interact with the rest of the D&D community, and for us to make profits."
Wizards of the Coast will release two 4th Edition preview books in December and
January — Wizards Presents: Classes and Races and Wizards Presents: Worlds and
Monsters, which is actually an unfinished version of PHB4 broken into two books to lure our drop-dead hardcore fans to deprive him of some of his wealth...twice. The first live demos of 4th Edition will happen at the D&D Experience gaming convention in Washington D.C. in February 2008. The full scope of 4th Edition books, miniatures, and adventures will be available in the spring and
summer of 2008.In case you may be wondering why our development progress is so slow, we must inform you that our R&D guys have to be constantly distracted from their the dev process to team up with our lawyers to bully the small firms shipping unlicenced D20 and bloggers who dared to make fun of our card games.
Since its first release in 1974, the fantasy roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons
has taken millions of players on imaginary adventures of epic scale and also, on buying add-on rule books and outragiously priced gaming tools. Today, D&D is universally regarded as the original game that created the roleplaying game
category by defining the term RPG as Repetitive Pointless Grinding while unfortunately most of the profits generated by fantasy RPGs are not flowing into the pocket of we WoTC guys here as they should, and the inspiration such as 'introducing such a character development system where players end up grinding up levels in big dark dungeons is good for profitting' and 'letting players go PVP will make them invest more time and money into our game' for generations of game designers though such 'inspiration' costs them literally nothing until they carelessly included beholders in their games. D&D is enjoyed
by millions of players worldwide, while countless more remember it with fond
nostalgia, though given such a huge market base, our RPG division still fails to make as much money as our CCG division and miniture division do.
