提问：关于第四卷的序章

  前些日子看完了卷三，于是今天忍不住下了英文的卷四，缓慢啃咬中……目前刚看完序章，疑问是大大的：Pate是怎么挂的？（虽然一开始就知道他会死……）那个术士的身份又是谁？

He was halfway down the alley when the cobblestones began to move beneath his feet. The stones are slick and wet, he thought, but that was not it. He could feel his heart hammering in his chest. “What’s happening?” he said. His legs had turned to water. “I don’t understand.”

“And never will,” a voice said sadly.

The cobblestones rushed up to kiss him. Pate tried to cry for help, but his voice was failing too.

His last thought was of Rosey.

诡异离奇，完全无法理解（可能是我太菜了- -）

无面者当然先是杀人灭口再变成Pate的模样好在学城混。他不是还让Pate拿钥匙给他么

因为，“His legs had turned to water”他的双腿化成水。。。

别等了, 直接翻到最后一章，最后一行。 这是伪.Pate的第一次出场. -  -

我猜His legs had turned to water石双腿发软的意思吧？化成水……

当时看的时候想到了化尸水-_-b

嗯turn to water也许是种暗喻。上文的“The stones are slick and wet, he thought, but that was not it.”可能是指pate脚底出汗。。。
