<冰雨的风暴>测试

QUOTE

I played the game last week using a store copy at my local game store. It's great. I personally like it better than the five-player original game, and though I was the only one in my group who had that opinion, everybody agreed it was better than the four-player version of the original game. There were a few reasons I liked it better:
A, better balance. In the original, Lannister gets screwed in the short term and Tyrell in the long term. In this game I felt everybody had a legitimate chance to win.
B, no ridiculousness with ships. I found ships in the original were too powerful because of how large the sea spaces were, and you would get lots of stalemates where both sides would just sit there with 3 ships and a support +1 the entire game. The smaller map spaces without the powerful navies makes it a more tactical game, and more fluid.
C, Iron Throne track becomes more important. In the original, it was usually important only if you wanted to go first and knew you could win, and in many cases it was better to go last. This expansion makes raids more useful (because of raid-activated leaders, and being able to raid the movement of enemy leaders) and being able to go before a specific other player is now more of an advantage.
D, I liked the additions of leaders and the new house cards (there are some awesome text abilities without the cards becoming game-breaking as the CoK ones are). They add new elements without taking anything away. Tactics cards are interesting but not as positive an addition imo.

In our game, Stark was very cautious and mainly turtled in the north while Greyjoy spread all across the centre of the map, becoming the clear threat to win while building up armies on the Stark border. Meanwhile, a completely separate war broke out between Baratheon and Lannister. Stannis spent most of the game trying (and failing) to take King's Landing from Lannister (me). Baratheon seemed to be getting the upper hand until on one fateful move, Jaime Lannister and Ser Gregor Clegane led an army that captured Melisandre. She was summarily executed in the dungeons of Casterly Rock, and Stannis, disheartened, abandoned the siege of King's Landing and rode north toward Harrenhall instead. Relieved, Lord Tywin led a sortie out of King's Landing and captured Storm's End.

But meanwhile, Greyjoy led a small strike force against the Lannister heartland when Jaime's army was out of position. While the Lannisters scrambled to recover, Baratheon retook Storm's End with freshly-mustered troops from Dragonstone. Stannis also captured Harrenhall from the Greyjoys. This set up an exciting final turn, when Jaime finally conquered Silverhall from the Greyjoy strikeforce. The krakens tried to reclaim Harrenhall, but Stannis held the fortress, and the Greyjoys, who led for most of the game, were sharply reduced in strength. The game ended with Lannister and Baratheon tied for the lead with six points each, and Baratheon ultimately won on the second tiebreaker! A remarkable comeback in a very dynamic game.

As much as I loved the game, there are 2 cons I would list:
1. Most of the game degenerated into two separate wars, Stark vs. Greyjoy and Lannister vs. Baratheon. It would have been more interesting if there was more of a free-for-all feel, though toward the end of the game that did materialize with Greyjoy invading the Lannister lands and Baratheon fighting Greyjoy at Harrenhall.
2. I would need another playing to see if the Stark position was really balanced. It looked like Stark could only reasonably attack Greyjoy, while the other houses all had many more options. However, I wasn't paying that much attention to the North, and it's possible that Stark and Baratheon could come into a lot more conflict if the players chose different strategies. I hope to play the game again and see what happens.

Also just wanted to mention this is my first post here so I hope you enjoyed my mini-review/session report.

Brian

Who is the man called Brian? It seems to me just some people gave a try of the game, then posted opinions somewhere around. I daresay it is un-official, Lord Ccxx put here because it gives some fair comments to a new game(I guess it is new though I am not very sure), am I right?
