Martin <br><br> <br> Meisha Merlin is proud to announce the third volume of our A Song of Ice and Fire limited edition series: <br><br>A Storm of Swords <br>By George R. R. Martin <br>Cover & Interior Illustrations by Charles Vess <br><br>The first volume of A Song of Ice and Fire, A Game of Thrones, was released in spring 2001, and was illustrated by<span style='color:red'> Jeff Jones</span>. The second volume, A Clash of Kings, was illustrated by the internationally renowned Tolkein illustrator <span style='color:red'>John Howe</span>. For this new volume, Meisha Merlin and George R. R. Martin are very pleased to be working with extraordinary talent <span style='color:red'>Charles Vess</span>. <br><br>Charles will be doing a full color dust jacket, 3 interior full color plates, and around 65 black and white interior illustrations. His plans are to have about 8-10 full page, around 20 half to three-quarter page and 20 one-quarter page illustrations that show specific scenes, characters, or landscapes, and then the rest smaller illustrations that can be used throughout the book. <br><br>Charles will also be doing an additional colour painting to be used as endpapers in the front and back of the book. The maps that occupied this space in the previous volumes will be moved to the interior of the book. <br><br><br>Click here to view samples of Charles' cover and interior artwork. <br>[This page will be updated as we recieve more of Charles' work] <br><br><br>Our print run for our A Song of Ice and Fire limited edition series is limited to 500 copies—448 numbered (1 - 448) and 52 lettered (A – ZZ). <br><br>The numbered editions will have: <br><br><br>* A new introduction written by George R. R. Martin exclusively for Meisha Merlin. <br>* Autographs of both the author and the artist. <br>* A handsome matching slipcase. <br>* 3 full color plates and around 65 to 70 black and white interior illustrations. <br>* Top edge gilt. <br><br><br>In addition to the above items the 52 lettered editions will have: <br><br>* An original remarqued sketch by Charles Vess on each of the signature pages. <br>* A sewn-in matching ribbon bookmark. <br>* All edges gilt. <br>* One of the full color plates reproduced on the slipcase. <br><br><br>Since all six volumes of A Song of Ice and Fire are offered as a matching letter/number set, those who purchased the first volume, A Game of Thrones, will have priority on purchasing the same number or letter of each successive volume. <br><br>If you bought a copy of Meisha Merlin's A Game of Thrones and/or A Clash of Kings through either Amazon.Com, Barnes & Noble, or Borders you may contact Meisha Merlin and upon sending us a copy of the title page showing the number/letter bought we can transfer that letter/number to you directly and you may purchase further titles matching that letter/number through Meisha Merlin. Those of you who bought your copies through any other dealers, stores, or sites must get your matching copies through them. Meisha Merlin will only transfer that letter/number to you directly if we have written confirmation from the prior owner of that letter/number to do so. <br><br><br>Ordering Information: <br><br>A Storm of Swords will be available for purchase once it has gone to the printer. <br><br>There are no lettered editions of A Storm of Swords open for sale as all letters were spoken for with A Game of Thrones. <br><br>As for the numbered edition, if you want to guarantee that you get of copy of A Storm of Swords and the later titles in the series, you must purchase a copy of A Game of Thrones. If you only want a copy of A Storm of Swords illustrated by Charles Vess, when you place your order it will be held until A Storm of Swords is actually published, around June 2004. At that time if the series is not sold out—or someone who bought the first title does not want the second title, Meisha Merlin will allow people to purchase individual volumes of their choice. Orders for volume two only will then be filled in the same order as they were placed. You will not be charged until we have confirmed that there is a copy open for sale.
